Therapeutica (Twelve Books) — Alexander of Tralles

~590 AD · Transmission: Global
MedicineTreatiseByzantine

Unlike his contemporaries' compilations, Alexander of Tralles wrote an original work based on his own clinical experience, daring to correct Galen when practice contradicted him. His twelve-book Therapeutica became a standard medical manual in Europe and the Arab world; he also pioneered parasitology, precisely describing intestinal worms and designing specific treatments.
