Arthur's Trace Formula — James Arthur

1978 AD · Transmission: Global
MathematicsMethodNorth American

Arthur generalized the Selberg trace formula to arbitrary algebraic reductive groups in a series of papers published between 1978 and 1988. Introducing truncation operators and resolving convergence problems, he built the central analytic tool of the modern Langlands Program for relating automorphic spectra to group representations.
