Julian calendar — Caesar and Sosigenes

Julius Caesar reforms the Roman calendar, adopting the Egyptian 365-day structure divided into 12 months with an intercalary day every four years (leap year), on the advice of Alexandrian astronomer Sosigenes. The Julian calendar governed the Western world for over 1,600 years and is the direct predecessor of today's Gregorian calendar.
