First operational use of wireless telegraphy — Anglo-Boer War

During the Second Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902), the British Army experiments with Marconi's system and the British Navy uses it successfully for communication between vessels in Delagoa Bay. This is the first operational field use of wireless telegraphy, a leap from experimental demonstration to real military application that drives the later development of Marconi's system.
