Hitchin fibration — Nigel Hitchin

1987 AD · Transmission: Global
MathematicsTheoryBritish

Hitchin introduced in 1987 the fibration bearing his name: a moduli space of Higgs bundles over Riemann surfaces with the structure of a completely solvable integrable system. The Hitchin fibration became a central geometric object of the Geometric Langlands Program and a key tool in Ngô Bảo Châu's 2008 proof of the Fundamental Lemma.
