MedicineInventionItalian

Candido Jacuzzi, born in Casarsa della Delizia (Friuli, Italy) and an emigrant to California, develops in 1956 a portable submersible water pump to treat his son Kenny's rheumatoid arthritis, adapting agricultural pump technology from the family business. In 1968 he launches the first bathtub with integrated water jets for home and therapeutic use, giving rise to the global hot tub industry. The family name became the generic name for the product, paradoxically erasing the identity of the inventor behind the brand.
