Alfonso X commissions a team of jurists to draft a unified legal body in Castilian, based on Justinian's Corpus Juris Civilis, canon law, and Bolognese glossators. Divided into seven parts, it becomes the most influential legal body in Spain and Latin America, effective in some respects until the 19th century.
